The Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) wishes to fill a key vacant position at its secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya. The position, as highlighted below, is to be filled on full-time basis.
NASAC is a consortium of 39 science academies in Africa with the mandate of: (i) Making the voice of science heard by policy and decision-makers in Africa and worldwide, so as to become the regional science advisor; and (ii) Strengthening and increasing its academy-membership to become a formidable network for the enhancement of science, technology and innovation towards sustainable development.
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will support NASAC in managing its general communication, digital platforms, branding, media relations, and event visibility activities to enhance the organization’s outreach and impact.
She/He will be responsible for the following main duties:
- Manage NASAC’s website and social media platforms;
- Develop, edit, and review communication materials prior to dissemination;
- Coordinate public relations, media engagement, and stakeholder communications;
- Support the implementation of NASAC’s communication and visibility strategy;
- Lead branding and visibility activities for meetings, conferences, and other events;
- Develop communication products including newsletters, press releases, publications, and promotional materials;
- Coordinate the planning, communication, and reporting of meetings, conferences, workshops, and other events.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, International Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field;
- At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, corporate communications, event planning, and event coordination;
- Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, website management, and social media platforms;
- Skills in graphic design, photography, videography, or video editing will be an added
