War and Sustainable Development in Africa
Summary
The Dar es Salaam Declaration on Women and Sustainable Development in Africa was adopted at the International Forum held from 8–10 March 2018 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, organised by the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC). The Declaration underscores the critical role of women in Africa’s economic, social, and environmental development, while highlighting persistent challenges such as gender inequality, poverty, climate change, youth unemployment, and limited access to resources. It calls for strengthened action in education, health, gender equality, employment, access to water and energy, financial empowerment, and good governance, emphasizing that empowering women and girls is essential for sustainable development across the continent.
