Mr. OUMAR SOCK is Professor of Analytical Chemistry. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Sciences from Cheikh Anta Diop University (Dakar, Senegal), a Master of Science in Electrochemistry from Louis Pasteur University (1977, Strasbourg, France), a Doctorate 3rd Cycle in Electrochemistry (1979, Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg) and a State Doctorate degree in Electrochemistry from University Paris 12 (1986, Paris) where he has been Assistant Professor during seven years. He was awarded “Best Thesis” by National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS, France) and joined Cheikh Anta Diop University (C.A.D.) in 1987.
He became successively Director of Technical and Vocational Teacher Training College (C.A.D. University, 1990-1995), Director of Polytechnic College of Engineering (C.A.D. University, 1995-2003), Vice-Chancellor of University Assane Seck of Ziguinchor (2009-2013). General Manager of Higher Education of Senegal (January 2013-December 2014).
Prof Sock retired in December 2014, he occupies since February 2016 the position of Permanent Secretary of the National Academy of Science and Techniques of Senegal (ANSTS), of which he is a founding member.
He continues to supervise doctoral thesis students at the Polytechnic College of Engineering (Cheikh Anta Diop University, Dakar) and at the University Assane Seck of Ziguinchor, in the fields of water treatment, valorisation of local agricultural products and clays.
He has been during many years (1995-2009; 2013-2014) national Coordinator of higher Education projects Senegal / World Bank
