The president of NASAC, Prof. Mostapha Bousmina, took part in the G7-Science Conference held on 4th May 2017 in Rome, Italy. The G7-Science Group brings together the Academies of Science of the G7 member countries (United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom). The Networks of Science Academies of America, Asia, Oceania, Europe and Africa were also invited to take part in the Conference. The aim of the conference was to discuss international scientific issues with recommendations to be formulated and communicated to the Heads of State of the G7 Group, who will meet on 26-27 May 2017 in Rome, under the presidency of Italy.
Two Italian ministers, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Carlo PADOAN, and the Minister of Culture and Heritage, Mr. Dario FRANCESCHINI, gave speeches at the Conference. During the Dinner organized at the Lincei Academy of Science, the former Prime Minister of Italy. Mr. Romano PRODI, gave a speech about the challenges of constructing a Euro-Mediterranean region of peace and shared prosperity.
The following three recommendations were formulated in the form of statements: (i) the modalities of resilience and preservation of the world’s cultural heritage, (ii) the challenges of neurodegenerative diseases in older populations, and (iii) the role of science, technology, innovation and infrastructure in the new economic growth.
